Frequently Asked Questions

Silhouettes

The law requires that the silhouette (markings) of the animal is completed for all passport applications.

The attending veterinarian must complete the silhouette to a high standard, accurately recording all identifying features. This ensures the animal can be positively identified if a microchip scanner is not available or if the microchip fails.

The veterinarian must certify all identifying features present. Where there are insufficient features to record, the outline of the chestnut on each leg must be drawn in the space provided. Applications containing fewer than five recorded features will be rejected.
